One of the major factors that influence a job decision is work-life balance. Employees want to be able to have a life outside of work. When the “work” part becomes too overwhelming, it can lead to stress in all parts of a person’s life. It can wear on a person mentally, emotionally and physically.
With retail jobs, work-life balance can sometimes be a tricky balancing act. On the one hand, employees are expected to work long hours and holidays (just think of Black Friday). On the other hand, by working all the time, your employees are missing out on family time, leisure activities and the “life” part of work-life balance.
At Blain’s Farm & Fleet, we pride ourselves in being a family-owned company. That’s why we treat our associates like family and understand the importance of life outside of work. There are a few ways we truly incorporate the idea of work-life balance into our stores and corporate office. Our stores close early on Sundays so our associates can spend time with family and friends.
We’re closed on all major holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our full time associates are also allowed a paid day off for their birthday. Reasonable hours and holidays off are rare in retail, and we take great pride in providing our associates with these opportunities for work-life balance.
